Mayan Abdominal Massage

Maui, Hawaii

Healing reproductive and generational health

Men and women are suffering physical symptoms related to a congested abdomen.

Over time, the organs in the abdomen can move, creating congestion and causing a range of reproductive and digestion health issues.

Massage helps reposition the abdominal organs, improving their functioning through the release of stored physical & emotional tension.

Rooted Integrative Bodywork uses the Abdominal Therapy Collective techniques to combine traditional remedies, herbal knowledge, and bodywork for a full-body healing experience.

Addresses the position & health of the pelvic and abdominal organs to improve organ functioning.

In your appointment, we include instructions for self-massage and complementary treatments for you to continue at home in order to deepen your healing experience.

Abdominal massage is an excellent therapy for treating infertility, painful menstrual cycles, chronic pain, and digestive issues.

The Technique

“The uterus is the woman’s core, if it is out of balance, her whole life is out of balance-physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.”

— Don Elijio Panti

Mental and physical health, as well as our body's overall functioning, relies on the performance of the organs in our bellies.

Over time, these organs begin to shift their positioning. This can also be caused by things like injury, birth, sitting for long periods of time, high-impact sports, running, walking, and so much more.

Through gentle, external, and non-invasive massage, we can bring the lower abdominal organs back into proper alignment, and help the body restore its natural balance and energy.

Creating space within the abdomen helps improve blood flow and balance within the body and increases the body’s self-healing capacity.
The technique works to restore the 5 systems of flow in the body (lymphatic, arterial, venous, nerve, and chi) thereby allowing your organs to function at their best and allowing you to

function at your best.

FAQ’s

  • Our initial session will include a comprehensive review of your personal health history, current health needs, and any health-related goals.

Together we will go over instructions for self-care massage techniques to practice at home. This allows you to continue treatments at home and it will help to enhance the professional treatments.

I will then go over recommendations for other treatment techniques to aid in your healing process, such as:

    Herbal remedies

    Castor oil packs

Faja (a support wrap for stomach organs)

Bajos (traditional uterine stream bath of Mayan healing)

Once we get all the initial intake out of the way, we will continue with a 60-minute external, non-invasive massage targeting the abdomen, back, and sacrum. This massage is aimed to bring the lower abdominal organs back into proper alignment. By doing so we are able to help them achieve their highest function.

  • Abdominal massage can help with an array of mental and physical misalignments.

  • In your first session, we will come up with a unique treatment plan tailored specifically to you. This will include how often I recommend coming in for treatments, based on your specific goals. I usually recommend a minimum of four sessions following your initial treatment for the best results.

One of the most remarkable parts about this type of therapy is that I will be teaching you how to properly perform abdominal massage on yourself so that you can add it to your tool kit. Practicing yourself will allow you to see results faster, and give you the opportunity to take your health into your health into your own hands.

  • I received my certifications from The Abdominal Therapy Collective. Here I studied the Arvigo Technique from the work of Dr. Rosita Arvigo who apprenticed with the late Maya H’men (Doctor-Priest), and Don Elijio Panti of Belize.

You can learn more about Dr. Arvigo’s work by checking out their website:

  • It all depends on what your goals are.

There is no need to reschedule your first appointment if you are menstruating. Once we get the initial massage out of the way and begin to discuss your needs, we may follow up appointments around your cycle. However, this is situation dependent and is not the case for all individuals.

For example, if you are coming in for fertility support, I will suggest we work together before you begin ovulation.

The woman behind Rooted Integrative Bodywork

Meet Rachael—

Since becoming a massage therapist in 2018, Rachael has worked at 5-star luxury resorts & spas, as well as clinically, with professional athletes at sport-movement wellness centers. She’s provided deep tissue, lomilomi, structural integration, pregnancy, Swedish, neuro-muscular therapy, and myofascial release styles of massages.

After completing the Postpartum Doula Training at the Pacific Birth Collective, Rachael was awakened to the importance of women’s health and the current lack of attention the medical system has in caring for women. She was shocked at both the physiological and psychological toll childbearing has on modern-day women, and the lack of resources our society provides when it comes to reproductive health.

Through her research, she learned the powerful benefits of abdominal therapy. The ancient knowledge of Maya Abdominal therapy has its roots in Belize–yet cultures all over the world hold similarities in their protocol for healing. Once Rachael became aware of just how many diseases and illnesses were rooted in the gut area, she grew passionate about helping women and men along their healing journeys.
